If you haven't encountered Parts + Labor yet – the designs are bold, dedicated to detail, and creative beyond what is current i.e. next level genius! Meet Jennifer Mehalko, the creator behind Calgary's most talked about fashion line. She embodies what it means to be a bad ass powerhouse, making a name for herself in multiple industries across the city. It's instantly clear when you step into her home, that she knows a thing or two about interiors. Her design chops are splashed throughout every room in her gorgeous townhome, and are easily mirrored in her closet where she has curated a collection of stunning and unique pieces. When she’s not making everyone envious of her eye for design, she’s sweating it out at Junction 9 teaching yoga. Her busy days and contagious energy are what keeps her going. “I have more ideas than I have hours in the day + whether its through interior design, fashion design, or movement … my brain + heart are always, always ideating.”
Jen isn’t afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve, even if those passionate emotions often land her into messy, but beautiful creative storms. She has brought her worldly adventures home with her, projecting her personal growth and inspiring the life she leads, today.

Style to Jen is storytelling, from the inside, out. “Tangible expressions of heart + individuality, that cultivate your confidence + empower you to live a RAD life, in really great clothes.” Jen keeps her eye on Kelly Wearstler for style inspo – "...any woman that can effortlessly go from rocking a silk suit and pumps to a ball cap, Vans and a sequined bomber is solid style icon. Oh, and obvi SJP."
"What I think creates a style icon is the ability to take any trend, own it + make it theirs.”
When she’s leaving the house to make it to her next meeting or event, she can’t leave without her backpack. It holds everything she needs to stay creative and put together - her mac book (full of idea files), sketch book, YSL lip gloss and highlighter, peppermint balm and headphones – all of the essentials.
Heels or flats? Sneaks

Tamara Mellon, Black Woven Fringe Skirt, $375
Parts + Labor, Wild Feminist, $95 (shop online)
Gucci, Sneakers, Jen's
New or vintage? Both! pairing is the perfect way to create your own look ... mixing my vintage pearl ring + LV necklace with a new silk blouse + ripped denim is one of my fav go-tos.
Jen's personal style statement is "feminine bad ass" and we couldn't agree more. There isn't a look that Jen couldn't pull off, and she isn't about to veto any certain style either. If she dug deep enough, she could probably replicate a look from any style book right from her closet. Her open mind to fashion keeps her style fresh and noteworthy. When it comes to consignment, the best piece that Jen has snagged is a pair of vintage jewelled evil eye earrings - a find from A Current Affair in LA from a Japanese vendor, "They are bananas + amazing."
We're obsessed with Jen's easy-going style mixed with high-fashion and vintage. Not only do we aspire to her chic fashion sense, but we also take her advice to heart - "Believing rather than hoping + approaching life with a ‘what’s the BEST that could happen’ perspective" - are her powerful parting words.
