There is only a certain type of person who says dusty rose is their favourite colour and can pull off silver hair without even trying. Julie Redmond is YYC’s style expert and is the perfect chica to kick off Fond’s Shop Her Style series. Not only is Julie a huge fashion inspiration, her down to earth personality and love for dogs and bunnies make her so relatable. Lucky for us her singing career didn’t work out and her move to Calgary 6 years ago led her to becoming the fashion stylist she is today.
“I believe I’m right where I need to be and every job I’ve had, every person I’ve met, every experience I’ve taken, led me to my styling career and the incredible group of people I get to surround myself with. I’m truly grateful for my life!”
Scrolling through her Instagram and portfolio, it's easy to see how Julie became a successful stylist and blogger in Calgary. To her, style means “individuality, a lifestyle, a story and a memory,” echoing the famous quote “Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess.” Julie’s style in impeccable and copy-worthy so where does she get her inspiration from? “Blake Lively is the first person that comes to mind. I love how she doesn’t have a celebrity stylist where most perceived style icons do.” She's also a huge fan of the European style duo @fabmuse_alina, @fabmuse_diana and Canadian blogger @jetsetjustine.

Even with a packed schedule, there are a few things that Julie can’t leave the house without “My eyebrows done, lip stick or lip chap, my cell phone and a trendy outfit (sweat suit included). You never know who you’ll run into.” At the same time, she would never be caught dead in the questionable Uggs-with-mini-skirt thing.
When it comes to consignment, Julie takes the time to find pieces that really speak to her, “Top three: Chloe platforms (they were never worn), my first ever pair of Christian Louboutin’s (also never worn) and my vintage Louis Vuitton briefcase. All those beauties were from Fond Boutique!”

Heels or flats? “Heels! I love flats but I always feel more confident in a killer pair of heels.”
Leather or lace? “That’s a tough call because both are sexy and super fashionable, if done right! So…let’s go with leather because I’m wearing it right now. Leather for street style, lace at home.”
New or vintage? “Both! One of my favourite things to do is mix new and vintage together.”
Julie Redmond pushes the envelope with her style, inspiring her clients and her followers to take what’s trending and add a personal twist. The best piece of life advice she ever received was to treat the janitor with the same respect as the CEO. “The best piece of fashion advice I’ve ever received was to not lose my enthusiasm for my styling and to remain true to myself and my style.”
